Large hotel that is incredibly luxurious. The rooms are beautiful. Bathrooms are large and luxurious. The lobby and facilities are over-the-top nice.
The neighborhood is high-end with nice restaurants and shopping within a very short walk. We even walked back from the Forbidden City.... a long walk, but doable.
Overall great experience
Visit to Beijing
A very spectacular hotel right in the middle of everything the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable and a good size would recommend staying here. There is also some lovely shops on sight.
Very luxury and beautiful hotel. Close to shopping, restaurantsband pubs. If you are not the resident in China, it is better to dine out instead of having dinner in the hotel.
It took us 30 min to walk to Tiananmen Square.
Legendale Hotel - Great Stay & Staff
A friend and I stayed at the Legendale Hotel in September for 3 nights before heading back to the UK. The hotel is opulent in appearance and very clean throughout although some fixtures feel a little outdated and in need of a fresh lick of paint. Breakfast was great with a choice of both Western and Chinese hot and cold food.
However, our stay was made all the better by the help and service provided by Richard, Concierge & Service Ambassador. His English was perfect and knowledge of the city & places to go was appreciated so much and truly made our stay in Beijing all the better. Thank you!
This hotel is great. Good location, staff are accommodating. Rooms are spacious and although a little bit over the top for Western standards, perhaps, thought it was a pretty comfortable place to be in.
We arrived just before Chinese New Year and the hotel was beautifully decorated for it. We found the staff helpful and courteous at all times. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Good Spa.The buffet in the evening was excellent and value for money. Easy walking distance to Tiananmen Square and easy to get to other sights too.
Staying at the Legendale was hotel treat of a lifetime
This is a hotel that we could only dream about, until we stayed there. Service was 10 out of 10; the room/suite was beautiful, took us back to what the great hotels of the
early 20th century must have been like. Food in magnificent dining room was perfect in service, presentation , and taste. What a traveler's dream.
The hotel boasts French decor and is a little gateway back to Europe in the middle of Beijing.
We stayed in the suite and it was beautiful.
Breakfast and evening aperitif was served in the VIP section of the hotel with lovely views of the city.
Food was quite diverse and beautifully presented.
Concierge was not very good with recommendations and had to change plans at the last minute to make up for it.
Well what can i say.we are only back from our 8 night stay in the legendale.amazing hotel from start to finish, rooms, beds(i eould love to take home) ,staff and food was i could easily say 6 star.the staff could not do enough to help in any way and always had smiles on their faces. Chiara (Service Ambassador) was such a nice girl she could not help enough, did maps out for us to get to markets etc and she is an asset to your hotel.we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and would love to come back.EXCELLENT HOTEL .Thanks for such a great holiday
Great hotel for Europeans
Great hotel for Europeans: the staff speaks English, the architecture reminds you about your home and this is very comfortable when returning from a full day of temple visits. The rooms are greatly spacious. The pool and sauna are very good and comfy. The breakfast has international and Chinees food. The location is great, a few min walk from Forbidden city or Lama temple or the great shopping street with a shopping center with a great variety of restaurants. The only thing watch out is that the restaurants are expensive in the hotel itself. So, we preferred to easy elsewhere.
Legendale Hotel - Great location
Opulent hotel in a great location. We had 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. On one evening there was a mix-up by one of the hotel concierge staff and the taxi took us to the wrong TRB restaurant so we ended up returning to the hotel. A special thanks to Richard who went out of his way to compensate for our disappointment by not only offering us a free dinner at the hotel buffet, but also re-booking the correct restaurant the following evening and arranging the hotel car and driver to take us there. Also a special mention to Chiara who left a lasting impression on us with her hospitality and friendliness.
Well.. We are staying at the opposite Park Plaza Wangfujing Hotel. Interesting our irresponsible driver dropped us at the wrong hotel and sped off. The concierge staff is amazing. He showed us where our hotel is and helped us carry out luggage across the street. With this kind of dedicated and committed staff, this hotel deserved nothing less than 5 stars
Great service and great location...
Great hotel! Everything was great from the spacious room to the great services. Everyone here were friendly and helpful. Excellent location, just 10-15 mins walking distance to the night market and the shopping malls.
We booked the private pick up when we arrived at the airport and I highly recommend it, due to the crazy traffic and the language barrier. Or you can see if the hotel can pick you up. If you’re taking a taxi, make sure you get the hotel address in Chinese that way he/she knows where to drop you off.
No google or fb, & the internet was very slow, so no translations app which makes harder for me to communicate with the locals.
Overall, the locals are nice and friendly. I didn’t have a problem of going out at night. Just make sure to watch your wallet when you’re in the night market at night.
A Great Base. Excellent Service.
I’d really recommend the Legendale as a Beijing base. Fifteen minutes walk from the forbidden city, next door to the metro, easy for taxis. I slept really well. Richard at check-in was superb and offered follow-up advice and service through the stay. Breakfast solid. Decor fun/ over the top. I ate at Camoes which was solid but you quickly realise outside the hotel is a better value proposition (dadong in Jinbao Place nearby very good and hotel booked that for me).
My husband and I have just come back from a 6 night stay at the Legendale Hotel on our first trip to Beijing and China. We absolutely loved our room and the hotel, small details such as fluffy slippers and gowns, bath salts, loofah etc etc made our stay feel extra luxurious. The bed and pillows was super comfy, which was very much needed after long days of walking and sightseeing. The hotel staff was absolutely amazing, nothing was too much trouble.
The location of the hotel is great, 2 mins walk to the nearest metro stop, close to a Starbucks for a morning caffeine hit. Also very close to Jinbao Place with many restaurants and the popular duck restaurant Da Dong. We would definitely without a doubt come back here on our next trip to Beijing.
Legendale Hotel Beijing
Crazy Rich Asians did not win any Golden Globe but it won our hearts for sure. In Asia, you can enjoy to feel like rich in the Legendale Hotel in Beijing, it is a beautiful place that resembles the Palace of Versailles (I could not be happier) and it is near everything!
I have spent a lot of my business life traveling from hotel room to hotel room ... after a while they all look pretty much the same 🤷♂️😢
But this week I was stopped in my tracks when I had the pleasure of staying at The Legendale Hotel, Beijing. A splendid creation of classic style ... certainly not what I expected to find in Beijing 🤗
If ever you get a chance to visit Beijing, do yourself a favour and visit The Legendale ... even if all you do is enjoy the splendour of the lobby.
Old Classic Hotel in China
Hotel is well maintained, the rooms are large and clean. Staff is kind and helpful especially for Indonesian guy who really worked hard for us, he was able to assist us with our questions with efficiency and enthusiasm. He always do his best to answers our question even when we asking a lot of questions to him, even when we have a problem with AC in the room, he comes to our room and resolved the problem with a smile and very professional attitude. Cheers to him, We are feeling at home with this kind of hospitality. Breakfast was unbelievable with many options for us, also the swimming pool was fantastic. A small issue we had is when we are in the restaurant, the staff cant speak English. In the breakfast time, they are quite busy, and we are asking something to the manager, but what we order never come to us. We just see the manager and the staff are talking or even playing mobile phone even when they are busy. Overall, I will recommend this hotel to my friends and for sure when we come again to Beijing, we will stay again in this hotel.
So Beautiful, not our regular budget so was a real treat. Helpful concierge. Convenient location
This is a very beautiful building. Stunning to look at. I wish I found the steam room earlier it was great. If you plan to use the pool make sure you take your own swimming cap, no swimming without one and to buy one there was about $30 Aus dollars. Lovely breakfast buffet. Concierge helped us with communicating with taxi drivers to take us to places we wished to visit.
Located close to Tienanmen Square & the shopping district this luxurious hotel is a great choice.
For some the decor will be a bit OTT, but it is striking! The rooms are huge and very comfortable, some with city views.
The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good with a good choice of western or asian foods.
There's a good Irish pub on site, plus more bars.
Luxury is Classical!
The architecture of this hotel is phenomenal. We are blown away with its beautiful appearance from the outside. The location is strategic whereby you could easily find convenience stores and shopping area within walking distance. I can tell, the details are classic yet luxurious. MRT station that connects you to a shopping heaven is only 5 minutes away on foot.
Hats off for Richard, the Indonesian GRO who is such an asset to the property, he is very knowledgeable about Beijing and the property. He helped to arrange special birthday surprise to my client~
Beautiful Experience indeed!
We recently spent one night, two days in Beijing and were booked at this hotel. We found the room, service, amenities and concierge desk to be of the highest quality. The hotel is well positioned and a reasonable walk to many of the features of central Beijing. We would particularly like to commend senior service ambassador Chiara Bacaloni who represents the hotel with extraordinary poise and hospitality.
Two night stay First class Hotel . .
My wife and I stayed at the Legendale for two nights prior to leaving China after a 6 day tour which was full on, So we needed to relax and chill out. This was the right thing to do as the Hotel was first class . We reserved a suit on the 5th floor it was exelant and well appointed . The Legendale is situated in the centre of Beijing so we found transport was not needed to get around .Staff so helpful and polite we were looked after like VIPs Plenty of restaurants good food from Portuguese , Italian and many moor . so quiet in the room and a great room service was provided . Thank you The Legendale . Mr C wagstaff
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. It is worth every bit of its 5 star rating. The rooms, staff, and service is second to none, It is so much better in reality that any pictures can protray. Thank you for making our holiday in Beijing so memorable
Just a weekend getaway
Have been to Beijing for couple years and passed by this opulent and majestic hotel, but frankly never went in. I decided to relax and get to know this hotel a little better.
The employees from the bellboy to the room attendant are just great. They could not do enough for you. Ciara and Richard at the Guest Services desk were always there in the lobby to greet people. Doorman was always nodding and happy. The rooms are comfortable and the atmosphere is clean and comfortable. I will be back!
I spent 2 nights in this hotel and it was wonderful. The room was big and comfortable, with luxury details. In fact, all the hotel is high standard, including breakfast. Excellent location. It has a Portuguese cuisine restaurant although I did not have to time to try it.
I stayed here as a solo traveller for 7 nights in May. This hotel, unlike many hotels I have stayed in, is actually nicer in reality than it looks in photos! It is full of marble, glitz, gilding, mirrors, bespoke deep carpets, chandeliers. It sounds like the most gaudy place on earth, but it is actually really impressive (if totally over the top!) The rooms are really beautiful. The huge bed and pillows were really comfortable. The bathroom had a massive bath and a great separate shower. Good air con, lovely views, and tea and coffee making. The mini bar was disappointing. One beer and miniature vodka - the rest soft drinks. Absolutely beautiful swimming pool and jacuzzi which I had to myself when I visited. Breakfast and dinner in the main restaurant were excellent. Great choices of Asian and European dishes. One gripe I had was the ridiculous cost of wine with dinner. For some unknown reason they had no house wine available for the entire duration of my stay. So the most reasonable imported red cost 50 euros a bottle or 12 euros for a small glass! Outrageous. On one occasion as I left the restaurant after dinner I was chased by a staff member to sign for a beer which I thought (wrongly) was complimentary. I felt that was sadly inappropriate and could have been handled better considering the cost of the hotel - the single room supplement alone cost me 600 euros for the weeks stay in the hotel! Apart from that small issue, I thoroughly recommend this hotel. It's fantastic.
Beautiful Old World Grandeur
Perfect spacious accommodation right in the heart of Beijing. If you are looking for personalised and charm this is the place. From its winding golden staircase to its atrium style floors overlooking the foyer, it has it all. The rooms have wonderful marbled bathrooms so spacious with clear glass wall through which you can enjoy a glass of wine in the tub before bed with only the moon for lighting (or city lights) depending where room faces. Check out gym and indoor pool. Fabulous spa. Walk down escalators to shopping and eating areas.
Superb Hotel, Great Location, Helpful Staff
Perfectly located, the Legendale Hotel is a very modern, well appointed hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the hotel staff are very helpful and friendly, with a number of western staff that speak perfect English. The swimming pool and health club was a real highlight, with the hot tub being the perfect way to soothe weary muscles after days spent trekking the Great Wall or traipsing through the Forbidden City and the Hutongs. Highly recommended!
Excellent stay from start to finish. The hotel is superb and location is a great location. Excellent bar called molly Malones near to the lobby and recommend for food and live music. Swimming pool and facilities excellent and well maintained. Room service excellent and quick.
Great Location and Great Staff
The Legendale is in a great location - about 15 minute walk to Tianemen Square and the Forbidden City and close to a range of shopping and dining options. Inside, great rooms, a comfy Lobby Bar and a team that go above and beyond to ensure you have a great visit. Also has a great steam room, sauna and pool facilities. I was fortunate enough to meet May Ling the Resident Manager at the Legendale who is the consummate hotel professional.
Whether for business or leisure (ours was a leisure trip to visit family working in Beijing) I can recommend the Legendale.
My husband and I stayed in the legendale while on a 5 day tour of beijing.
Tbe rooms are beautifully designed and the staff were extremely helpful.
The food for breakfast and dinner was brilliant. The swimming pool was very well maintained and the staff where again very attentive.
Great first class hotel
Legendale Beijing 11-17 Jan & 15-20 February 2019
Reception was professional and efficient.
The room met expectations and was a nice standard 5 star room that is well appointed with a spacious bathroom. The view from the first room was ok, and I asked for a better view room on my second stay and it was better. The bathroom is very nice and has a separate shower and toilet with a full sized bath.
Guest service staff are professional, friendly and helpful. Wifi was complimentary and generally worked well but there were times when it was a little erratic.
The hotel’s foyer is very luxurious and spacious, and befitting a five star hotel. The Location is great, and is in a ritzy part of town with nice shopping and restaurants not too far, and within a 10-15 minutes walk away.
I had some items shipped to the hotel before my arrival and this was handled very well by their first class concierge. They are very helpful and professional.
The Staff are friendly and the door-men were great and very welcoming especially on the cold Beijing winter. A special thank you to Mr Yang for his super welcoming manner.
Overall, a very pleasant and enjoyable experience and very happy to visit again. Thank you.
I had the pleasure of staying at this property for 3 nights.
My room was beautiful and well appointed with a comfortable bed and spacious bathroom with an abundance of quality bathroom amenities.
Breakfast was ok with many choices.
This hotel really is something to behold. It’s probably the most ‘unusual’ hotel I’ve every stayed in. It feels like you stepped back in time a few years. When you look the finishings and trimmings you get the impression that no expenses where spared in the building of this property.
The male jacuzzi area was really good.
Great hotel choice
Like most people we were overwhelmed trying to pick which hotel to stay in for our Beijing visit. We are so glad we picked this hotel. From the moment you arrive you feel welcome. The staff are friendly, polite, helpful and there were quite a few who spoke good English. The rooms and all common areas were ornate, clean and well presented. It is about 5 minutes walk to Waifujing Street. The concierge (Chiara) gave us great advice for our visit to Silk Street markets. Drinks at the lobby bar are quite expensive, Molly Malone’s is in the same building (out the front door and turn right) where the drinks are half that price. We would definitely stay again if returning to Beijing.
Most beautiful place to stay in Beijing
The Legendale Hotel is a real excellent place to stay in Beijing; the location, the facilities and amenities, the personnel and the rooms: everything is at the top here.
The rooms is gorgeous; the breakfast is just great; the pool on the 2nd floor is amazing.
The concierge and lobby staff is most delicious; nice the bar.
But most of all the building itself is almost spectacular: the stylish interior and the internal atrium with a 15 floors view is not an everyday experience. Strongly reccomended.
We stayed here as part of our anniversary in Beijing. Currently living local and had a wonderful staycation at the hotel. The service was wonderful with a special surprise in our hotel upon arrival. We asked for a room on a higher floor and were accommodated. Hotel was very clean and made for a wonderful weekend stay.
Amazing - truly amazing!
If you read this, you’re going to think I got paid to write this, but I did’nt – I’ve just not experienced a hotel like this before.
People write it looks like Versailles – and it does. Every corner of this VERY big hotel has style and class. Gold, marble and expensive materials everywhere. And somehow, they manage not to make it corny – it’s just like living in a castle.
I was there 8 nights with my mom in the “deluxe - two (BIG) beds - room”. She has stayed in many expensive hotels all over the world with her work; Hilton, Mariott, Waldorf Astoria, Plaza NY etc…. And I myself have visited the 7 star hotel, Emirates palace, in Abu Dhabi – and we both agreed that this hotel BY FAR was more an experience. Even the elevators look like a ballroom.
From the moment we saw the hotel we were both blown away! I thought the pictures in here were overrated – but it was the other way around; the pictures did’nt show how amazing it actually looks like.
Sure you can find a tiny spot here and there, that needs to be fixed, but it’s nothing in the whole picture.
The staff is always helpful and especially, Chiara, the senior service ambassador, was outstanding.
Always smiling, helpful, honest and genuinely nice. A true star at the hotel.
I can without a doubt in my mind recommend staying here. My mom and I were looking at other hotels before booking this. We were so glad we didn’t book other places, because the highlight of our trip was the full experience of living here.
Wow! Ornate Hotel in Great Location
This is an absolutely gorgeous hotel in Wangfujing. All the hotel workers are very friendly, helpful, and speak good English. The room is very spacious, impeccably decorated, and the bed is absolutely divine. The room was very quiet as well. The breakfast is good with lots of options. There are also several restaurants in the hotel; we went to Molly Malone's for a drink and a snack and that was nice too! It's within walking distance to Wangfujing Walking Street & shopping district. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for something a bit more upscale and want to relax.
Perfect for a city trip!
The hotel is at a perfect location near the golden street and the forbidden city. The next subway station is just 5 minutes by foot from the hotel. When we arrived we reveived a free upgrade to very nice suite. The staff speaks English fluently and they are very well trained. I need to mention the generous breakfast buffet with a huge variety of Western or Chinese choices. I definitely recommend going to this hotel if you are visiting the capital!
Sightseeing and vacation
The service was awesome and the rooms was excellent. We stayed there sept 18, 2018 through sept 22, 2018. There was an Italian staff that worked in front desk, restaurant was bilingual in English, Mandarin Chinese and Italian. She was so helpful and professional. She had the best hospitality skills. Each day we saw her and she made us mocha, cappachino coffee when we sat down for breakfast (it was buffet style). She gave us detail information on subway for the Temple of Heaven, Lama Temple and the surrounding areas. She called for taxi immediately from our hotel to airport. She made my stay a fabulous one at Beijing. The hotel is a 5 star hotel in my rating. The rooms were super clean and great bathroom and nice air conditioning. We loved it.
Beautiful, in the center of the city. Great service, beautiful rooms, very close to the main pedestrian street in the center and if you want to by a luxurious car, you can find it at the entrance of the hotel...
Splendor but one major comment re disclosure
Great hotel and great service. HOWEVER we were disappointed with not knowing in advance about the evening and afternoon. curfew of 3 days of the hotel area due to the government parade rehearsals. That caused us major hassle and limited our ability to reach and get back from meetings. This should have been notified to us in advance so we would note have been choosing the hotel. Service team and in particular the general manager assisted by letting stay at hotel for longer hours on checkout day and arranging for a shuttle bus to airport but the hotel should have been warning us ahead of checking in to hotel.
Luxurious Hotel in the Heart of Beijing
We had never been to China, but we wanted to walk on the Great Wall. We found this hotel on trip advisor and we could not have chosen better. The hotel is absolutely stunning! Elegant and palatial with sweeping staircases and beautiful artwork displayed throughout. There was a hushed serenity about it...we felt like we had stumbled on the best kept secret! And the service was second to none. We upgraded and paid a little extra for access to the Noble Club Lounge for breakfast and evening cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and we are so happy we did. It was a welcome respite after a long day of sightseeing. We were there a few days before Christmas and the hotel was beautifully decorated. On our last night, May Tang the Resident Manager talked to us for a few minutes to personally welcome us and insure that we were enjoying ourselves. Indeed, we miss you May and we miss the Legendale -- our home away from home in Beijing. Do not hesitate to book this property!
We stay there for 3 nights, feeling like you are in a Royal Palace, the room is awesome, great management and staffs. Breakfast is fare, not so many choices but not a big issue and I enjoyed. I will come back and a strongly recommend.
Great hotel in Beijing
We stayed 3 nights at the Legendale hotel. We followed the instructions on the hotel website to take the MRT from the airport. It was very easy to find. Total trip took about 40 minutes and cost under $5 USD per person. Definitely far cheaper and probably just as fast as a taxi or hotel car. The lobby and rooms were beautiful. The concierge helped us make a reservation for Da Dong’s for Peking duck. He even drew us a very detailed map to get to the restaurant even though it was in the building right next door. He wanted to make sure we found the right door and took the right elevator to the right floor. The hotel is a less than 10 minute walk to the Wangfujing shopping and street food area. We found several good restaurants in the APM mall which is about 2 blocks from the hotel. We spent some time at the hotel pool which was very nice and far bigger than I expected.
The only thing I would change is that while the toilet is separated from the rest of the bathroom, it is behind a clear glass door, so it really didn’t add any privacy. Especially if the shade above the bathtub was lifted in which case you can see straight from the bed to the toilet. Easy to get past by just closing the window shade and the bathroom door.
Luxury for an amazing price
This review is well overdue. My sister and i stayed here and were amazed at the accommodations. BEST BED I ever slept in. Plenty of room for the two of us. The bathroom was large, a little strange at first as it has windows all around it. But there are shades.
Great location and a safe walking area for two women, and at night. We got up early before our tours and there is a Starbucks across the street(as the restaurant was not open yet) We did do the bkft buffet one day and it was good but somewhat expensive. The wi-fi was dependable at all times.
It's a glamorous hotel and we felt pampered.
Great hotel in the perfect location
I chose this hotel mostly because of the location, central and close to many attractions. I was really impressed with the room (HUGE), very clean, comfortable and luxurious. The service was also really good. Breakfast has many asian and western options. Highly reccommended,
I stayed here as a single female for 3 nights the end of September.
When I checked in I got advised that on 30th Sept the road outside would be closed at 7/8pm due to the 70th Anniversary Celebrations. I had a chauffeur booked for 8.30pm to take me the airport. I had trouble trying to explain as could not understand me (I do not blame them as I am the foreigner) although they did call Richard (Service Ambassador) who came to my rescue like a knight in shining armour! Taking my flight details and said he would sort it all out for me...The following day, it was all confirmed for 6pm.
This hotel is luxurious. The entrance/ Foyer is amazing. The interior just beautiful. (although the carpets in the hallways could do with a clean..but not drastic)
My room was on the 11th floor and just beautiful. The bed was one of the best I have ever slept in. Bathrobes to die for. Everything you would need was in there. Bottled water replemished daily as were the amazing toiletries. Mini bar not to badly priced for such a fab hotel, After long days on my feet was luxury to be able to lie in a welcoming bath and not just have a shower!
The staff were lovely and in the bar area the ladies were very welcoming.
Great location for the underground and also Wangfujing.
My last day I had to sit in reception for 5hrs from check out before my pick up, seeing as most of the shops were closing at 1pm. Not the best of last days I had in mind BUT...I have a massive Thank You to hand out to 2 of the best staff I have ever met in my time travelling. These two made me feel welcome on all 3 days I was there, always asking how my day was, what had I done, was there anything at all they could help me with, and on that day sitting in reception for all those hours, coming over to me, having a chat and looking after me. Richard Liu & Gabrielle Mazzocchi I thank you sincerely. YOU ARE THE BEST!!!
Would I recommend this hotel...Definately!
Excellent hotel with service exceeding expectations
We loved our 3-night stay at the Legendale.
The hotel location is fantastic. It's a 3 minute walk to Dengkishou metro station (we arrived to and from the airport via metro). It is a (flat) 10 minute walk to the Wangfujing pedestrian street and 20 minute walk to Tiananmen square.
The hotel style is modelled on a classic European style which means it stands out a bit in Beijing. It is quite tasteful so don't be put off by the aesthetic. The room was spacious and well appointed. It had a nice large bath separate from the shower. The hotel gym was good (and updated), the breakfast was adequate.
What really stood out was the service we received from the concierge staff. We had a delivery sent to the hotel which they had to track down and collect from the local distribution centre as we were departing Beijing that night. Otherwise we would have left before the delivery arrived. This was well and beyond what would be expected and deserves commending.
The only criticism I have of the hotel was that the lounge in the lobby was overpriced for what it was. We didn't go back a second time.
